Last.fm Review - Ryan MacGillivray
I enjoy listening to Last.fm, but I have one complaint: there’s no pause button. This wouldn’t be a major problem, but you can’t rewind songs either. Nevertheless, this website’s still great fun to use.
Last.fm is an excellent way to discover new music, although this feature can be rather infuriating when you want to listen to specific artists—the website relentlessly bombards you with unrelated songs by other groups—but this is a price worth paying for the chance of discovering a band like The Wallflowers, a great rock group from California featuring Jakob Dylan, Bob’s son.
Although I’ve accessed other internet music players before, Last.fm offers a more communal experience. It gives you a proper profile, along with the ability to add friends and let them view the songs you’ve listened to. This social interaction is certainly welcome because it makes it easier to share any new bands or individual songs you come across with your friends.
Another original feature of this platform is the ability to play songs through a desktop media player while adding them to the list of music you’ve listened to on your profile.
Overall, Last.fm is perfectly suited to people who enjoy social networking websites, but I still want more control
